Location
Panagia settlement is a traditional village in Thassos, 9 km away from the city of Thassos. The name of the village, along with the 11 chapels, indicate the intense religiousness of the area, which back in 1845 was the capital of the island. The name holds from 1832 and comes from Panagia’s church.
There is plenty of running water in the village and its center is occupied by a huge platanus. The village also offers a great view to the mountains, the lowland and the champaign. The Golden Sand Beach or Skala Panagias is also called “Avlakia” by the natives.
The hotel is built next to the Golden Sand beach. Golden Sand is located southern of Makriamos beach, between the villages Skala Panagias and Skala Potamias. The beach is large at length and width, with literally “golden” sand. Its shallow, crystal clear waters make the beach particularly safe for children.
